Twitter Conservatives

Barack Obama‘s victory for his second term as U.S. President sparked substantial social media reaction Tuesday night.

Among conservative users of Twitter, the news of Mitt Romney‘s defeat launched a great deal of chatter as well — some sympathetic, others angry.

Outspoken conservative commentator Ann Coulter expressed her sympathy for the Romney/Ryan campaign: “I feel so sorry for Mitt Romney, but sorrier for the country that will never have him as president.”

Former actress Victoria Jackson was a little more direct, tweeting that “America had died” and that she “couldn’t stop crying.” She took a stab at the Christian population, too, for not being present enough during the election:

The hashtag #tcot (top conservatives on Twitter) was also hot with disbelief:

Among the #tcot posts, one Twitter user referred to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s collaboration work with — and later praise of — Barack Obama in superstorm Sandy’s cleanup as “treasonous” and unforgettable.

Others focused less on attacking, and instead on congratulating Mitt Romney for a hard-fought campaign.

Former General Electric CEO, and noted Republican, Jack Welch congratulated President Obama.

Meghan McCain, blogger for the Daily Beast and daughter of Senator John McCain, said she was “heartbroken,” but added that the Republican party “has to evolve or it’s going to die.” She extended a congratulations to the Obama campaign as well.

Loads of people (including me) are fans of the show “American Ninja Warrior.”

The reality television program (along with its counterparts across the world) features athletes tackling obstacles that are tough by any standard imaginable. It’s a celebration of the human body and what’s possible with the right conditioning and training. Often, these athletes train for months or years before auditioning for the show because they’re not typical feats that they pull off in the gym every day.

One dad in New York knew his son was a huge fan, so he took their old swing set in the backyard and converted it to a training ground for the 13-year-old boy. The results are totally impressive.

In this video, the son shows off his moves on the obstacle course his father created. Just looking at him makes my muscles hurt!

I know I’ll be rooting for him if he auditions for the show when he’s older! What a cool thing to do for your son. Share this with all the awesome dads you know.

While on a safari trip in Botswana, John Chaney, an amateur wildlife photographer, was lucky enough to witness a scene very few people have had the privilege to see. And he captured it on film. They found an elephant, and what she was doing is heartbreaking. It further proves the feelings and emotions of animals.

A safari group came upon a carcass of a dead elephant. When they approached it, a female elephant charged from the bushes to protect the body. Then, she lovingly held his tusk with her trunk.

Elephants are known for mourning their dead, but viewing this kind of scene in person is almost unheard of.

She held a vigil over her friend for hours. She protected his body from vultures, hyenas and the humans. She refused to leave the side of her friend… breaking the heart of every single person in the group.

“When we came back two or three hours later she was still in exactly the same place, holding the tusk of her friend,” said John.

Share this touching scene with others to show just how beautiful animals can be.
