Despite losing their fifth teammate early in the event, four soldiers from the Grafenwoehr-based 15th Engineer Battalion competing under the 7th Engineer Brigade battled to claim the illustrious title.

The boat was reported overdue July 28 at Ruo Island in the Hall Islands, about 625 miles southeast of Guam and 70 miles north of the Chuuk Islands.
