“There was momentary loss of separation after which the aircraft continued to move away from one another,” the FAA said in a statement.

The bonuses are paired with three-year enlistment contracts to secure reenlistments and recruit airmen looking to transfer from active duty or the Air Force Reserve.

The proposal is part of a Pentagon effort to reduce the cost difference between relatively inexpensive incoming enemy drones and the weapons the U.S. has used to shoot them down.
