The Warrior Games was created in 2010 as an introduction to Paralympic sports for injured service members and veterans. As the Army’s Warrior Transition Command describes it, the event showcases “the resilient spirit of today’s wounded, ill, or injured service members from all branches of the military. After overcoming significant physical and behavioral injuries, these men and women demonstrate the power of ability over disability and the spirit of competition.” Events include volleyball, wheelchair basketball, swimming, cycling, track & field, archery & competitive shooting.
This weekend, Britain’s Prince Harry and Olympic medalist volleyball star Misty May-Treanor attended the kick-off. The Warrior Games are sponsored by Deloitte.
